Borderlands 3 Cinematic Sound Design
I've had the extreme pleasure of getting to contribute some of my sound design to such an amazing franchise: Borderlands 3! I started working with Formosa Interactive back in May of 2019 I was tasked to design the in-game title cards for the following characters: This was such a fun experience and I hope all of you out there eventually get the opportunity to play the game! If you do, let me know how you liked it. So far I'm only a few hours into the game and it's a ton of fun

New Zealand Trip blog - Part 2
The second stop of our trip was a quick pit stop for an hour or so at Ship Creek along the Haast Highway. This was such a cool spot to explore with a nice little nature trail that looped you through the natural wildlife habitat just off of the coastline. Here, I was able to capture some really cool birds within the foliage. We eventually ventured back towards the coast where I was able to record some really great waves at varying distances. For this small recording pit stop,

New Zealand Trip blog - Part 1
For my 30th birthday my fiancè and I went to New Zealand for 2 weeks and it was everything I could've ever hoped for! It was filled with so much adventure and exploration. I couldn't have asked for a better destination to both celebrate my birthday and to record such incredible environments. This will be part one of a short series of posts outlining my journey throughout recording New Zealand! We traveled throughout the South island of NZ via a R.V. and it was just magical! A

Jurassic Galaxy
Earlier this year I worked on my first feature film of 2018 - Jurassic Galaxy. The synopsis of the film is: In the near future, a ship of space explorers travel through a distant solar system and crash land on an unknown, mysterious planet. They’re soon met with some of their worst fears as they discover the planet is inhabited by monstrous dinosaurs. Now, using only their wits and their will to survive, these astronauts must venture across the dangerous landscape and fight o

GOTG Season 3 - That's a wrap!
I've been working on Marvel's Guardians of The Galaxy animated series for the past two years. I can't believe how fast time has flown by! It feels like only yesterday that I was brought onto the series at the beginning of Season 2. This season had many creative challenges for me. It pushed me as a sound design/editor to think of new and creative ways to bring the series to life and deliver original sound design. There are a few episodes in particular that are SUPER stylized a

My favorite Sound Design Plug-Ins
In this day and age there are loads of different plug-ins to choose from. There's a huge variety of them that can help you achieve different tonal qualities in sounds and help you create some really other-worldly sounds! Here are some of my absolute favorite plug-ins that I use on a daily basis. Dehamuniser 2 by Krotos Dehumaniser 2 is one of the most powerful tools I've had the pleasure of using. I very frequently have to create a lot of monster/creature sound effects in a r

New BOOM Library Release: Modern UI
When I woke up this morning I was extremely excited to see that BOOM had just released a brand new SFX library! I'm a really big fan of everything that's produced and created by BOOM Library. The quality in all of their products are top shelf and their library's are absolute staples in my SFX library. This sound effects pack is a pretty decent size coming in at 8.3GB. It contains over 3,800 sound files. It's really nice having so many different options to choose from! I'm get

Field Recording session in Reno
This past weekend I was up in Reno to visit friends, family and to celebrate my fiancé and I's engagement with my family up North since we reside in Los Angeles. I decided before we made the trip up that I was going to record some of my dad's toys that live in his amazing garage! I've been creating my mobile SFX recording rig for quite some time and I was super excited to start recording. First up, recording the 1967 Triumph Bonneville 650cc. I absolutely love this incredible

Sound Design in a different way
Sound design doesn't have many walls or barriers that you MUST abide by. You can literally take your smart phone and go out and record yourself hitting a metal dumpster, a light post, your desk.... I think you see where I'm going with this. If you can record something - you can edit that sound and turn it into something magical. I stumbled upon this video while browsing Facebook and it immediately caught my attention. I love seeing other creators doing what they love and maki
